Eric Sauar, Differ

Dr Sauar has a long and deep relationship to Solar Energy, as Technology and Strategy specialist, Corporate Executive, and Entrepreneur. Following post-university experience of 10 years in energy policy development, process and cleantech industry, Erik founded the Renewable Energy Corporation (REC Solar), one of the world's leading solar energy companies. Over 15 years Erik has been Founder, CTO, and Senior Vice President, a role that has lead from initial direct technology development and management to later portfolio management of a $60M R&D budget. As CTO; Erik also was gatekeeper for translation of new technology to volume manufacturing and development of improved solar modules. More broadly, his engagement has stretched from development of solar wafers through factory construction to managing PV electrification projects in rural Africa; from research, development, strategy, management, sales, execution and policy. In addition, Dr. Sauar has experience as Board Member of US, Asian, African, German and Norwegian companies, about 20 patents and patent applications, and more than 15 peer-reviewed international technology papers cited by more than 200 different scientists.

 

Dr. Lars Samuelson

Prof. Lars Samuelson is the director of the Nanometer Structure Consortium, started in 1988, which is today the primary center for nanoscience in Sweden. Lars is a Fellow of the Institute of Physics, FInstP in the United Kingdom, a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (Kungl. Ingenjorsvetenskapsakademien, IVA) and also a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences (Kungl. Vetenskapsakademien, KVA) which awards the Nobel Prizes in Chemistry and Physics each year. In 2008, he was named "Einstein Professor" by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Lars is the author of more than 600 articles in refereed journals, and has given about 250 plenary/invited talks at international conferences and workshops. He has been named by a leading journal as the most prolific European contributor to scientific journals in the nanowire field for the last decade and among the top five worldwide. Lars has also co-funded the nanotechnology companies GLO and QuNano. He received his Ph.D. in Solid State Physics at Lund University in 1977.

 

Dr. Abdelhakim Hammach

Dr. Hammach is a senior executive with over 20 years of leadership and management experience in R&D, venture capital investing, and strategy consulting for global organizations in the USA, Europe and MENA region. Before his current role as the managing director of investment at Riyadh Valley company (RVC), he was a senior strategy consultant with Accenture, where he advised leading global organizations in the US and Europe on issues of growth strategy. Before joining Accenture, Dr. Hammach was a Venture Capital Investment Consultant with Aurora Funds in the North Carolina's Research Triangle Park, USA. Prior to this, Dr. Hammach was a Principal Scientist with Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals (BIPI) in Connecticut, USA. Dr. Hammach has served as a judge to the Duke Startup Challenge on many occasions, and he has also been actively involved in mentoring entrepreneurs both in the US and in the MENA region. Dr. Hammach served as a Postdoctoral fellow at the chemistry department of the University of Pennsylvania after having earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Vermont. He also holds a MBA from Duke University, and a B.S. in Chemistry from the University Moulay Ismail of Meknes Morocco. He is an inventor with 18 US patents and has co-authored numerous articles in leading international journals.
